Seoul House Location for Short Films and Music Videos

A short film rarely happens in one room. Your character walks in through the front door, talks on the sofa, eats breakfast in the kitchen and climbs the stairs, and finding all of that usually means booking several locations and moving the crew between them.

Botong Lee Studio is the ground floor of an old detached house in Seongbuk-gu, about a five-minute walk from Exit 3 of Hansung University Station on Line 4. One team has the whole 56-square-meter floor to itself. Inside the same house there is a small front yard, an old-style entrance, a wooden staircase, a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen, a bathroom and a small greenhouse. We regularly get inquiries from short film and YouTube teams, and short films have been shot here before.

Scenes you can shoot without leaving the house

Each space has its own look, so you can move from one scene to the next by walking a few steps instead of moving the whole crew.

Entrance and alley — red brick walls, stone steps and an old "Botong Lee Photo Studio" sign above the door. Useful for arrivals, departures and anything that needs a street-facing shot.

Living room — an orange sofa, a Persian rug, a wooden grid ceiling and wood-paneled walls. It works for conversations, quiet moments alone, or a family scene.

Yellow kitchen — yellow upper cabinets, a tiled wall and a sink by the window. It suits breakfast, dinner and cooking scenes, and you can actually cook there. If you do, please air out the smell, clean up around the stove and wash the dishes before you leave.

Teal room — a small round table and chairs by the window, good for two people sitting across from each other.

Mother-of-pearl cabinet and red curtain corners — old Korean furniture and strong colors. These corners fit flashback scenes or music video cutaways.

Greenhouse — plants behind a glass door, with daylight coming in. Good for daytime scenes.

Wooden staircase — for scenes on the stairs. One team booked the house specifically because they needed a staircase.

The 12-hour package

For teams that shoot all day, there is a 12-hour package.

Hours — 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., or 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. the next morning

People — up to 25 people, cast and crew together

Price — 250,000 KRW

Deposit — 100,000 KRW, paid to the bank account in the text message we send after you book, and returned after we check that the furniture is back in place, the space is clean and nothing is damaged

Equipment — strobes, continuous lights, colored bar lights, backdrop paper and cloth are included in the package at no extra cost

For shorter shoots you can also book by the hour: 15,000 KRW per hour for two people, plus 5,000 KRW per hour for each additional person, with a two-hour minimum.

Things to know before the shoot

You can move the furniture

Move the sofa, chairs and props to fit your frame. Please put everything back where it was when you finish. Taking a quick phone photo of each room before you start makes the reset much easier.

Night and early-morning shoots are possible

The space is available 24 hours a day. For night scenes, book the package that starts at 9 p.m. The house is in a residential neighborhood, so at night please keep loud scenes and music playback to a minimum.

If you are recording sound on set

The house is generally quiet. The one thing to plan around is the dog on the second floor, which may bark briefly when the front door opens and closes. It usually settles down quickly. If clean dialogue or ambient sound matters, finish bringing people and gear in, wait until it is quiet, and then start recording. Let us know in advance if sync sound is important for your project.

Loading gear and parking

Because the studio is on the ground floor, you can carry equipment straight in without stairs or an elevator. There is a resident parking spot in front of the studio you can use, but if the resident calls, you will need to move the car right away. So after unloading, we recommend the Samseon-dong public parking lot, about a four-minute walk away. If you are coming with several cars, tell us your arrival time and the number of vehicles.

Changing clothes, CCTV and pets

There is a CCTV camera recording inside, so please change in the bathroom or on the veranda side. If equipment or furniture is damaged or stained, the booking team is responsible for the cost. Pets are welcome; if a pet has an accident indoors, the owner covers the cleaning or damage.

Frequently asked questions

Is a large crew okay?

The 12-hour package covers up to 25 people. The floor is 56 square meters, so if you bring a lot of gear, decide in advance where people will wait between takes.

Can we take furniture out or rearrange it?

Yes. The only condition is that everything goes back to its original place after the shoot.

When do we get the deposit back?

After the shoot, once we have checked the furniture, the cleaning and that nothing is damaged. You pay the deposit to the account in the text message we send after you book.

Do we need to rent lights separately?

No. Strobes, continuous lights, colored bar lights and backdrops are included. Please bring your own cameras, triggers and sound equipment.

Can we eat on set?

Yes. Food is allowed and you can cook in the kitchen. If you cook, please air out the smell, clean up and wash the dishes, and take care of the trash before you leave.
